PAIN ON CREATION
The creative process can be extremely challenging, even painful at times. Facing a blank sheet of paper, defining an idea, finding a direction, dealing with self-judgments and the feeling of incapacity is something that is part of the creative process and with which we have to deal. As well as sleepless nights and time pressure.
When we finally get results, immediately after, we could hit with a flood of judgmental thoughts that rip what we’ve just made into tiny little shreds. Being creative hurts. Maybe not for everyone, but it does for me.
This project aims to represent this whirlwind of emotions that invade us during the creative process, through illustrations in black and red neon. I choose screen printing as the printing technique, because it not only adds textures, but also allows the color to be kept alive, allowing it to take advantage of the strength that a red neon can have: causing agitation and discomfort in the reader.
